LockIn Saya _02 TX / Gyuto & Kiritsuke Gyuto

LIMITED EDITION

LockIn Saya 02 — Gyuto TX
A limited edition defined by its surface.

A textured finish introduces a distinct tactile and visual presence.

Released in small batches:
Only 5 units per size.

DESCRIPTION

A wooden saya developed as a complementary object to the knife.

Designed to accommodate variation across makers within a defined range, in this case Gyuto and Kiritsuke Gyuto, providing a stable hold through the AdaptiveFit System™  a Fixed Slide Mechanism™, and an Edge Clearance™, keeping the blade secured and the cutting edge protected over time.

FORM

The external form is derived from the proportions of the blade it protects.

Each size is developed as a distinct object, maintaining a consistent language while responding to differences in length and height.

FINISH

The interior is sealed to protect against moisture and odours.

The exterior is stained, oiled, and buffed with wax, using products specifically formulated for timber protection and longevity.

MATERIAL

Tasmanian Oak
Sustainably sourced Australian hardwood.

Selected for its balance between stability and workability, allowing the internal structure to be defined with precision while maintaining a consistent surface over time.

Finished in black charcoal to establish a uniform tone while preserving the natural grain.

Sliding element made from recycled Australian hardwood.

Textile-covered neoprene inserts provide controlled contact with the blade while remaining non-absorbent and resistant to moisture and odours.

PERSONALISATION (+$20)

Optional engraving available.

A name or personal tag can be added, positioned to sit within the object without disrupting its form.

Only text can be engraved. No logos.

Right or left-handed orientation can be selected.

SYSTEMS

AdaptiveFit System™

It uses a series of geometrically organised pressure points composed of small neoprene inserts, positioned to stabilise the blade without enclosing it entirely.

Unlike fully lined interiors, these contact points reduce the likelihood of marking or scratching the blade while maintaining a controlled hold.

Fixed Slide Mechanism™

An integrated sliding element, built into the object and non-removable, ensuring the saya retains its primary function over time.

Edge Clearance™

5 mm of clearance below the blade edge. Prevents contact with the saya, preserving the cutting edge over time.
